Obituary for Linda May Wagner

Linda May (Watson) Wagner, a new resident of Volo, IL and former resident of Wauconda, IL, left us much too soon on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the age of 66 in Dallas, TX. She had her dear husband by her side.

Linda was born on January 14, 1953 in Hinsdale, IL to Robert and Betsy Watson. She sadly lost her father in her early 20’s, and her mom later met and remarried Lester Litwiller. Les became a dear father to Linda and grandpa to her children. She grew up in Long Beach, CA and attended high school in La Grange, IL with her two older brothers, John and David Watson. She also was blessed with siblings from her stepfather in his previous marriage; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Linda attended Western Illinois University where she majored in marketing and art. She possessed a strong talent in both areas and created a long-lasting career first as director of community relations and later as corporate meeting and event planner for Kemper Insurance in Long Grove, IL. After 20+ years with Kemper, she took a brave leap of faith and became a successful independent meeting planner working, as she always dreamed of, from her home office. She spent all of those years traveling the world and planning a wide array of events including golf tournaments, small and large conferences, galas, tradeshows, and more. She officially retired from an admirable career on January 1st, 2019. Among many other things, she was also a dedicated member of her church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Barrington, IL.

In 1972, while taking summer classes at the College of Lake County in Illinois, she met her husband, Michael L. Wagner, and they were married on September 14, 1975. They have 2 children: Brock (Jodi) Wagner and Candice (Eric) Wagner-Smevold. Linda was a proud and loving grandma (known as Na) to 4 young grandchildren: Lonni, Cameron, Keira, and Ava. Linda wanted nothing more in life than to spend time with her family and dear friends. Being a grandmother was her pride and joy.

Linda is now at rest with her beloved parents and eldest brother, John, as well as her sweet and precious dogs Dallas, Tiger, and Riley. She is survived by her brother David of Dallas, TX, her husband, and both children.

She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Words can not express how much she will be missed.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at the Kisselburg-Wauconda Funeral Home 235 N. Main St., Wauconda, IL 60084.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 11 at 1:30 pm at the Jewel Tea Pavilion in Citizens Park 511 N. Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010. (A gathering with food and drink to follow, at this same location).

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions on Linda’s behalf to the ASPCA or PAWS Chicago, two great organizations supporting her immense love of animals.
